Man stabbed at Newton park

It’s not often a Bethel College team can boast of defeating The University of Kansas.

The Awards Committee of the Bethel College Alumni Association has named Claudia A. Limbert, Columbus, Miss., formerly of Newton, as the winner of the 2008 Distinguished Achievement Award

Matthew Baumgartner and Paul Hagman, both students in the Automotive Technology program at Newton High School, have been named recipients of $500 Pizza Hut Scholarships.

Emerson from Newton was recently recognized by the United States Achievement Academy.

ethel College’s annual Undergraduate Research, Internships and Creative Activity symposium will take place on campus Saturday.

The public is invited to any session of interest. There is no charge. Presentations begin at 9 a.m. and will end about 12:40 p.m. with a break for refreshments midway.
