Bethel College announces recipients of academic scholarships for the 2009-10 school year who are first-time freshmen at the college. Academic scholarships at Bethel are based on high school grade point average and college entrance exams.

• Landon Bartel, Newton, has been awarded the Outstanding Student Academic Scholarship from Bethel College for the 2009-10 academic year. The scholarship is valued at $22,400 over a four-year period. Bartel is a graduate of Newton High School. His parents are Gregory Bartel and Cathy Penner.
