Sears Hometown Store in Newton and others around the nation will sponsor food drives to benefit local food banks and non-profit organizations in their communities in November and December. This is the fourth consecutive year in which the Sears Hometown Store organization, with nearly 950 stores, will spearhead a national initiative to support the hungry in their communities. The Sears Hometown Store will receive donations of canned and boxed non-perishable food items now through Dec. 31. During the past three years, the food drive collected more than half a million non-perishable food items throughout their network of stores.
“We welcome the opportunity to host this event again,” said Marty Kozar, CMO/DVP for Sears Hometown Stores.
Customers are encouraged to drop non-perishable canned and boxed food items as well as other needed products, such as diapers, paper towels, handy wipes, latex gloves, etc. in the donation boxes at their Sears Hometown Store during business hours.
The donations will be given to local food banks, soup kitchens, emergency shelters and after-school programs.
