  • NASC to host 'Picnic and Concert'

  • The Newton Area Senior Center will host the second annual "Picnic and Concert" starting at 6 p.m. June 28 at the Carriage Factory Art Gallery Park in the 100 block of East Sixth Street.
    In addition to a brisket or pulled pork dinner, the night will feature the Golden Notes chore at 6:15 p.m. and the Great Plains Jazz Orchestra at 7:15 p.m.
    Tickets are $15 in advance or $16 at the door, children ages 6 through 12 tickets are $7.50. Children 5 and under are free.
    There will be prize drawings at 7:15 p.m. The meal includes a brisket or pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, chips, pickle, drink and watermelon.
    In the case of inclement weather, the picnic will be moved to the Senior Center.
