This weekend is the annual fund-raising auction at St. Mary Catholic School.

Three highlights.

1. Fun

Started in 1997, the auction features a new theme each year. This year it goes to the middle ages with "A Knight to Remember."

2. What you can take home (for a price)

There are dozens of auction items including autographed basketballs, game tickets and locker room passes.

For a suggested donation of $5 per ticket, you receive the chance to win one of three prizes: A Microsoft XBox One Entertainment System, the choice of three different trip packages, or $1,000 cash.

Trips include a tour of Wine Country based in Sonoma, Calif., a trip to Nashville to attend the County Music Awards or a five day trip to Telluride, Colo.

3. A cause

In the years since the auction began, many of the original goals have been achieved – there are now computers in every classroom and the media center, the library has been updated with newer books, new flooring has been installed in the gymnasium, and with the efforts of a separate capital campaign, a new addition replaced classrooms housed in the 100 year old original school building.

This year proceeds from the event will go to would replacing aging computer servers and increasing bandwidth for the school.
