HILLSBORO — The Bethel College softball team dropped a pair of games Saturday in KCAC play at Tabor in Hillsboro.

Bethel dropped the first game 6-2 despite outhitting the Bluejays 4-2. Bethel dropped the second game 8-0. The second game was called in six innings on the eight-run rule.

In the first game, Tabor scored two runs in the first inning without a hit, aided by an error. Bethel came back to tie the game with a pair of runs in the third inning on a Mariah Ekart home run.

Tabor regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the third on a Sarah Massey home run. The Blue Jays put things away with three runs in the fifth inning.

No player had more than one hit in the game.

Bethel pitcher McKenzie King took the loss, allowing three earned runs on two hits with nine walks and a strikeout.

Marilee Burge went the distance for Tabor for the win, allowing two earned runs on four hits with eight strikeouts.

In the second game, Tabor scored seven runs in the first three innings and added a run in the sixth to end the game.

Tabor's Katie Henning went two for four with two home runs and six RBIs. Sarah Massey went two for three with an RBI. Alysha Carter added an RBI. Chelsea Nutt and Becca Bartel each went two for four hitting. Bartel and Henning each scored three runs.

Tabor pitcher Lauren Massey allowed four hits with five walks and three strikeouts. Bethel's Sarah Cunningham took the loss, allowing seven earned runs on 11 hits with a walk and three strikeouts.

Tabor improves to 11-15, 2-2 in KCAC play. Bethel falls to 4-13, 0-4 in KCAC play. The Threshers play at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Ottawa.
