HIGHLAND The Hesston College women's basketball team fell to Highland Community College 80-51 Wednesday in NJCAA Division II, Region VI play in Highland.

Highland led 34-27 at the half, and continued to pull away in the second half.

Highland, ranked second in the NJCAA Division II poll, finishes 28-2, 9-1 in Region VI play, tying for the regular season title.

Anna Deegan led Highland with 15 points, followed by Ashley Torres with 12 and Ryann Bowser with 11.

Hesston was led by Makaya Ladwig with 13 points. Nikkita Lester and Nikki Young each scored 10 points.

Hesston 13-17, 3-7 in Region VI play. Hesston hosts Brown Mackie College at 1 p.m. Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Region VI tournament.

HIGHLAND The Hesston College men's basketball team was held to 17 points in the second half, falling to Highland Community College Wednesday in NJCAA Division II, Region VI play in Highland.

Hesston trailed by just two at the half, 35-33, but was outscored 35-17 in the second half. The Larks were just six of 25 shooting in the second half.

Martell Collins scored 31 points with 16 rebounds for Highland, 15-15 overall and 5-5 in Region VI play. Dominique Davis added 17 points.

Darrion Martin led Hesston with 11 points. The Larks end the regular season 10-19, 5-5 in Region VI play.

Hesston and Highland meet again at 2 p.m. Saturday in Highland in the Region VI post-season tournament.

HESSTON The Hesston High School girls' basketball team finished out the regular season with a 51-23 win over Haven Thursday in CKL play in Hesston.

The Swathers finished the season unbeaten in CKL play to claim a division title. Hesston is 19-1 overall.

Hesston led 18-4 after the first quarter and 34-14 at the half.

Caylee Richardson led the Swathers with 16 points.

Cora Ezell led Haven with 10 points.

Hesston hosts Halstead at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the quarterfinals of Class 3A sub-state play.
