WICHITA The Bethel College women's basketball team saw its season come to a close Wednesday after a 49-39 loss to 20th-ranked (NAIA Division II) Friends University in the quarterfinals of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference at Garvey Gym in Wichita.

Bethel ends the season 12-17. Friends, 25-6, hosts Tabor Saturday in the semifinals.

Both teams struggled on offense. Bethel was 15 of 50 from the field for 30 percent. Friends was 16 of 65 for 24.6 percent. Friends did hit five of 20 3-pointers, while Bethel was one of 12 from beyond the arc.

Bethel was eight of nine from the line, while Friends was 12 of 22. Bethel was called for 22 fouls, while Friends was called for just 14.

Friends held a 55-34 rebounding advantage. Bethel had 26 turnovers to 21 for Friends.

The Falcons were led by Sarah Munds with 19 points. Kayla Mollere scored nine points with 17 rebounds.

Bethel was led by April Harpe with 10 points and 12 rebounds, her 13th double-double of the season. Lauren Ulrich added nine points. Harpe was named second-team all-conference.

Bethel loses three seniors Harpe, Katie Regier and Samantha Wilkerson.
