  • Bethel College invites the public to come see the brand-new Thresher Gym floor with some special features during Saturday's games against the University of Saint Mary.
The women will tip off at 5 p.m., followed by the men at 7 p.m. It will be the first home game at Thresher Gym for the men and just the third for the women, the women's first game at Thresher Gym since Nov. 9.
The floor had to be replaced in December following significant flood damage incurred last July.
Anyone wearing Bethel College attire will get free admission to the game. In addition, the first 75 people in the door dressed in Bethel gear will get a free hot dog.
There will also be a T-shirt giveaway during the game.
One new element in the floor’s design, a nod to the history and tradition of Bethel athletics, is a watermark of a threshing stone at center court. Also, building on existing Bethel branding, the athletic font has been changed from lowercase to uppercase.
The emphasized colors are the Bethel maroon and gray, with yellow incorporated through the volleyball lines. These lines now take precedence on the court to acknowledge new volleyball rules and their enforcement by officials, which dictate continuous lines.
The Threshers have road games today at Southwestern. The Bethel women are 7-7 while the Bethel men are 0-13. Both teams dropped two games last weekend at the McPherson Classic.
The Bethel women fell to Haskell Indian Nations 63-54 and Dakota State 67-59. The BC men fell to Haskell 87-70 and Baker 54-50.
