    HALSTEAD — The Halstead High School girls' basketball team fell to Kingman 62-44 Friday in Central Kansas League play in Halstead.
    Leading 20-19 at the half and 43-35 after three quarters, Kingman made a 19-9 fourth-quarter run to put the game away, hitting 12 of 15 free throws in the period and 25 of 32 for the game. Halstead was 11 of 14 from the line, not shooting in the fourth quarter.
    Kingman, 2-4, was led by Sada Smith with 17 points, Michaela Theis with 13 and Madison Bangert with 11.
    Tia Frazell led Halstead with 15 points. Meg Talbott added 10.
    Halstead is 3-3 and hosts Sterling Jan. 7.

    ELBING — The Berean Academy girls' basketball team allowed just six field goals in a 46-15 win over Peabody-Burns Friday in Elbing.
    Berean led 12-2 after the first quarter and 24-10 at the half. Peabody-Burns was held scoreless in the third quarter.
    Megan Hendrickson led 3-2 Berean with 12 points, followed by Sarah Hoover with 10.
    Brianna Larsen scored six points to lead Peabody-Burns, 0-6.
    Berean Academy hosts Bennington Jan. 3. Peabody-Burns opens Wheat State League play at home Jan. 7 against seventh-ranked (KBCA, Class 1A-I) Centre.

    WHITEWATER — The Remington Bronco girls jumped out to a big lead early to put away Pretty Prairie 45-17 Friday in non-league play in rural Whitewater.
    The Broncos led 34-6 at the half. Pretty Prairie didn't get in double figures in scoring until the third quarter.
    Kelcey Hinz led a balanced Bronco effort with 12 points.
    Kristin Haflich scored 10 points for Pretty Prairie, 3-2.
    Remington is 5-0 and plays Jan. 7 at Inman to open HOAL play.

    HALSTEAD — The Halstead Dragon boys used a 14-2 third quarter to put away Kingman 59-39 Friday in Central Kansas League play in Halstead.
    Halstead led 24-17 at the half, putting things under control in the third quarter.
    Anthony Santiago led Halstead with 23 points.
    Kingman, 4-2, was led by Brandon Bradshaw with 11 points.
    Halstead is 4-2 and hosts Sterling Jan. 7.

    ELBING — The Berean Academy boys broke open a close game at halftime with a 25-8 run, claiming a 55-38 win over Peabody-Burns Friday in Elbing.
    Berean led 15-14 at the half.
    Kameron Wiebe led Berean with 15 points, followed by Loren Pearce with 12 and David Ladwig with 11.
    Peabody-Burns was led by Xavier Jabary with 12 points and Vince Newman with 11.
    Peabody-Burns, 2-4, opens Wheat State League play Jan. 7 at Centre. Berean Academy, 4-1, plays Jan. 3 at Bennington.

    WHITEWATER — The Remington High School boys' basketball team dug too big a hole early, falling to Pretty Prairie 67-54 Friday in non-league play.
    Remington trao;ed 29-5 after the first quarter and 45-24 at the half.
    Nicholas Lampe led Pretty Prairie, 3-2, with 21 points. Keifer George scored 18 points and Jordan Albright scored 11.
    Blake Thunberg scored 17 points for Remington. Garret Johnson added 15 points.
    The Broncos are 0-5 and play Jan. 7 at Inman.
