    HILLSBORO A 22-2 third-quarter run was too much for the Halstead High School girls' basketball team to overcome in a 47-20 loss to top-ranked (KBCA, Class 2A) Hillsboro Tuesday in CKL play in Hillsboro.
    Hillsboro led 12-2 after the first quarter and 20-12 at the half.
    Addie Lackey led Hillsboro with 17 points, followed by Alex Ratzlaff with 16.
    Sydney Beat scored seven points for Halstead.
    The Dragons play Friday at home against Kingman.

    BURRTON The Burrton High School girls' basketball team used a 17-3 advantage from the free throw line to stop Peabody-Burns 43-32 Tuesday in non-league play in Burrton.
    The Chargers led 11-6 after the first quarter and 18-13 at the half.
    Alissa Satterfield led Burrton with 13 points. Abbie Winter and Brea Dick each added 10.
    Brogan Larsen scored 11 points for Peabody-Burns.
    Burrton hosts Hutchinson Central Christian Thursday. Peabody-Burns plays Friday at Berean Academy.

    The Trojans led 24-17 at the half, keeping the Dragons at arm's length the rest of the way.
    Christian Ratzlaff led Hillsboro with 15 points.
    Anthony Santiago scored 10 points for Halstead.
    The Dragons play Friday at home against Kingman.

    BURRTON The Burrton Chargers fell to Peabody-Burns 57-56 Tuesday in non-league play in Burrton.
    Burrton led 32-18 at the half. The Warriors rallied in the second half for the win, scoring 23 points in the final quarter.
    Braxton Kyle and Vince Newman each scored 19 points for Peabody-Burns. Garrett Schroeder added 10.
    Nathan Harper led Burrton with 17 points. Kris Lane added 15.

    The Newton High School freshman girls' basketball team held off a late Salina South rally to claim a 39-36 win Tuesday at Willis Gym.

    Friday, Newton fell to Salina Central 65-38 in Salina. Tuesday, Newton fell to Salina South 65-34 at Willis Gym.
    Newton hosts Maize, Andover and Winfield in a tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday.
