HESSTON — The Hesston-Moundridge wrestling team will have six wrestlers back when the 2013-14 season begins.

Doug Broadfoot returns for his 19th season with the team. He is assisted by Josh Jantz.

Hesston-Moundridge was 5-2 in dual meets last season. The team finished fifth in the Central Kansas League. Hesston was 14th in the Class 4A regionals and didn't score at state. Moundridge did not score in the Class 3-2-1A regionals.

The team took sixth at the Hesston Invitational, eighth at the Halstead Invitational, 15th at the Circle Invitational and eighth at the Ellsworth Invitational.

The leading returnee for the team is senior Mason Schweitzer (126 pounds, 24-12 last season).

Other returning letterwinners include senior Tommy Jenkins (132, 15-12), senior Isaac Anaya (138, 8-12), junior Keith Wages (195, 10-15), sophomore Juan Guzman (220, 5-8) and sophomore Austin Sims (120, 5-8).

Incoming freshmen include Jake Wingfield (170) and Zach Anderson (145).

"We'll be young, but with good attitudes and strong work ethic," Broadfoot said. "We should be fairly competitive by mid-season."

Broadfoot looks for Smoky Valley, Pratt and league newcomer Hoisington to be the top contenders for the CKL team title. Top non-league competition will come from Southeast of Saline and Marion.

Hesston will move down to Class 3-2-1A for post-season competition this year.
