Newton’s annual Parade of Lights will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in downtown Newton. Even snow and chilly temperatures will not stop the festivities.
“The weather always seems to turn wintry just before the parade,” said Lions Club President Matt Seger. “Hopefully it will help put everyone in the Christmas spirit.”
The parade will run down Main Street from Seventh Street to Fifth Street. The evening will also include caroling in front of Prairie Harvest at 6 p.m., hot chocolate served along Main Street and photos with Santa after the parade at Mike’s Rent-to-Own.
Donation boxes will also be available to bring old eyeglasses and non-perishable food items. All parade-goers are encouraged to bring a donation.
