Thursday morning teachers, district staff and high school students of Newton USD 373 gathered at the district maintenance facility to assemble "crisis kits."

Each kit contains things a teacher may need in the event of a crisis in their school building — items like flashlights, clip boards, pencils, pens and first aid kits. There will be a kit placed in each classroom of each school — 381 kits in all.

Items for the kits were donated by local businesses including: Midway Motors, Graber's Ace Hardware, Charlsen Insurance, Edward Jones, Waddell and Reed, Citizens State Bank and Petitijean Whitfield and Associates.
