    Liz Sowers, Hesston High School graduate, who was selected to play on the U.S. National Women's Rugby Sevens team.
    Kate Lehman, a Newton High School graduate, who blocked six shots in Fort Hays State's win over Bethel College.
    Tommy Alexander, Stephen Scott, Ja'Terious Pouncy, Garrett Garcia, Taylor Morris, Jared Kaufman, Edward Davila and Bret Crome of Bethel College football, who were each named to the All-KCAC teams.
    Newton High School Jazz Ensemble I, which performed a "Marathon Concert" to raise funds for a spring break trip.
    Newton Medical Center, which pledged to match a $25,000 city grant for the renovation of a medical building to host services from Health Ministries, Prairie View and the Harvey County Health Department.
    Ashley M. Murrell, a senior at Washburn University, was recently awarded a $500 Scholarship for the 2013-14 Academic Year by the Harvey County Association of Retired School Personnel.
