    fall to CMU
    WICHITA — The Bethel College men's basketball team gave up 100 points for the third time this season, falling to Central Methodist 103-55 Saturday in the Friends Classic.
    The Threshers fall to 0-5 this season. Central Methodist, an NAIA Division I school, improves to 5-3, hitting the century mark for the third time this season.
    The Eagles hit 36 of 58 shots from the field for 62.1 percent. CMU was eight of 17 from 3-point range. Bethel was 19 of 54 from the field for 35.2 percent, two of 15 from 3-point range.
    Bethel was outrebounded 41-20.
    Central Methodist jumped out of a 52-27 lead at the half.
    Melvin Tillman led CMU with 24 points. Mitchell Farr added 23 points. Cody Anderson and John Hall each added 10 points. Harrison Gibson had 18 rebounds.
    Bethel was led by Kent Packard with 16 points. Robbie Wright added 11.
    Bethel plays at 4 p.m. today in an exhibition against NCAA Division II Newman in Wichita. The Jets are 2-3.

    Hesston men
    fall to Cowley
    ARKANSAS CITY — The Hesston College men's basketball team fell to Cowley College 92-78 Friday in Arkansas City.
    Hesston trailed by 22 at the half, 51-29, but was able to cut into that lead in the second half.
    Cowley, 6-2, was led by Earl Bryant with 29 points. Kazmere Boyd and NaQuavious King added 15 points each. Jade McLendon scored 13 points.
    Darrion Martin scored 20 points for Hesston, followed by Jesse Johnson with 15, Beau Palmer with 13 and Jordan Tanner with 10.
    Hesston is 2-7 and hosts Southeast (Neb.) Community College at 8 p.m. today.

    NEVADA, Mo. — The Hesston College women's basketball team fell to Cottey College 85-76 Saturday in Nevada, Mo.
    Hesston trailed 39-26 at the half. The Larks scored 50 points in the second half.
    All five starters for Cottey, 2-4, scored in double figures. Caley Shaffstall scored 21 points, followed by Casey Heger with 20 points and 18 rebounds, Cassie Hale with 14 points, Kat Zumalt with 14 points and Linsey Denney with 10.
    Hesston's stats were not posted at deadline.
    Hesston is 3-6 and hosts Southeast (Neb.) Community College at 6 p.m. today at Yost Center.
    Bethel JV
    drops two
    HUTCHINSON — The Bethel College men's junior varsity basketball team dropped a pair of games during the weekend at the Hutchinson Clinic Classic.
    Friday, Bethel fell to 14th-ranked (NJCAA Division II) Central (Neb.) Community College 111-79. DeWayne Canady scored 19 points for Bethel, followed by Malcolm Mustin at 16, Jenson Kingsley with 14 and Kyle Regier with 11.
    Saturday, Bethel fell to Western Texas Community College 122-82. Kingsley scored 24 points for Bethel, followed by Mustin with 14, Regier with 13, Damon Trotnic with 12 and Josh Peterson with 11.
    Thunder falls
    to Rush
    WICHITA — The Wichita Thunder fell to the Rapid City Rush 4-2 Saturday in Central Hockey League play in Wichita.
    Wichita led 2-1 in the second period, but the Rush scored three unanswered goals to win. Winston Day Chief, Tristin Llewellyn, Jesse Schultz and Brett Kostolansky each scored a goal for the Rush, 12-1-0. Konrad Reeder had two assists. Schultz added an assist.
    R.G. Flath and Jon Booras each scored a goal for Wichita, 2-10-4.
    Taylor Nelson had 15 saves for Wichita. Tim Boron had 23 saves for Wichita.
    Wichita hosts Brampton at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday.
