    HAYS — The Bethel College men's basketball team fell behind 31-4 early, falling to NCAA Division II Fort Hays State Wednesday at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays.
    The Threshers trailed 55-22 at the half.
    Fort Hays State was led by James Fleming with 22 points, Jared Tadlock with 19, Dwayne Brunson with 11 and Tomislav Gabric with 10. Achoki Moikobu had 10 assists.
    Bethel was led by Rodney Hill and Jordan Hett with 12 points each. Tyler Ellis added 11 points.
    Bethel opens the regular season at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Central Christian College in McPherson

    WINFIELD — The Bethel College volleyball team fell to Southwestern in four sets Wednesday in KCAC play in Winfield.
    The loss was Bethel's ninth straight, falling to 9-19, 2-13 in KCAC play.
    Bethel lost the match 25-17, 25-20, 17=25. 25-23.
    Tori Pickens had 10 kills for Bethel, followed by Katie Regier with nine. Sam Sheridan and Breetta Moe each set 13 assists. Moe served three aces. Maggie Hans and Regier each had eight digs. Shelby Howard downed nine blocks.
    For Southwestern, 6-21 overall and 4-12 in the KCAC, Chasity Clark had 14 kills. Allison Ornbaun set 21 assists. Taylor Sisneros had 16 digs.
    Bethel hosts McPherson at 7 p.m. Saturday.
