    Maize South 14, Hesston 6
    HESSTON — The Hesston High School football team fell to defeat for the first time this season, falling to Maize South 14-6 Friday in district play at home.
    Chase Bell rushed for 159 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns to lead Maize South, 7-1 overall and 2-0 in district play.
    For Hesston, Ryan Schadler rushed for 101 yards on 17 carries with a touchdown.
    All of the scoring was done in the second half. Maize South held a 413-130 advantage in total offense.
    Hesston falls to 7-1, 1-1 in district play and plays Thursday at El Dorado. The Hesston-El Dorado winner advances to the playoffs.

    Sedgwick 61, Bluestem 6
    LEON — The Sedgwick Cardinals got closer to a Class 3A playoff berth with a 61-6 win over Leon-Bluestem Friday in Leon.
    Sedgwick led 33-6 at the half.
    Dalton Brandt had 12 carries for 308 yards and four touchdowns. Brandt also caught a touchdown pass. Brylie Ware, Tanner Liby and Greer Chandler each added a touchdown run. Liby also had a touchdown reception. Logan Thompson hit eight of 13 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns.
    For Bluestem, 1-6 overall and 0-2 in district play, Cooper Minnick rushed for 108 yards on 28 carries. Minnick also threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to John Stiger.
    Sedgwick hosts Remington at 7 p.m. Thursday, wrapping up a district title with the win.

    Peabody-Burns 40, Madison-Hamilton 34
    PEABODY — The Peabody-Burns Warriors upset previously unbeaten Madison-Hamilton 40-34 Friday in Eight-Man I district play.
    The Warriors trailed 28-0 at the end of the first quarter, but cut the deficit to 28-16 at the half and led 32-28 after three quarters.
    Peabody-Burns' Kyle Braxton rushed for 41 yards and passed for 129 yards with four touchdowns. Fred Windsor added 93 yards rushing with a touchdown. Windsor also caught a touchdown pass. Clayton Philpott caught two touchdown passes and Kevin Baatrup caught one.
    Madison-Hamilton falls to 7-1, 4-1 in the district. Peabody-Burns is 7-1, 4-1 in the district. The Warriors play Thursday at Lebo.
