  • Hesston 62, Circle 20
    TOWONDA — The Hesston High School football team went on the road to stop Circle 62-20 to open district play in Towanda.
    Hesston led 41-6 at the half.
    Ryan Schadler rushed for 152 yards on 15 carries with three touchdowns. Merek Barber rushed for two touchdowns. Daniel Fulghum and Wyatt McKinney each rushed for a score.
    McKinney hit six of 14 passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Schadler and Justin Smith each caught a TD pass.
    Hesston is 7-0 and hosts Maize South Friday.
    Sedgwick 55, Independent 14
    SEDGWICK — The Sedgwick Cardinals jumped to a 48-0 halftime lead en route to a 55-14 win over Wichita Independent Friday in district play.
    Sedgwick's Dalton Brandt rushed for 187 yards and four touchdowns. Brylie Ware passed for 225 yards and two touchdowns. Ware also rushed for a touchdown.
    Tanner Liby covered a blocked punt for a touchdown. Greer Chandler and Austin Agee each caught a touchdown pass.
    Karson Rowe rushed for a pair of second-half scores for Independent.
    Sedgwick is 6-1 and plays Friday at Leon-Bluestem.
