County commission to meet
The Harvey County Commission will meet at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Harvey County Courthouse, 800 N. Main.
Agenda items include indigent defense contracts, a financial report, community corrections advisory board appointment recommendations and a citizens forum.
City to meet
The Newton City Commission will meet 7 p.m. Oct. 8 in Newton City Hall, 201 E. Sixth St.
Agenda items include a request to close Main Street Nov. 2 and Oct. 26, a proclamation declaring the week of Oct. 20 as BPW Women's Week, an agreement for use of a digital city street map for a research project, signage for the Kansas Logistics Park and a citizens forum. The commission will also meet for a work session from 5 to 6:45 p.m. Oct. 26 to discuss a community hangar at the Newton City/County Airport, conceal and carry rules for some city buildings and insurance issues.
Council of Governments to meet
The Harvey Co. Council of Governments will meet at 7 a.m. Oct. 9 at the Bread Basket in Newton. Legislators will be present to give a preview of the upcoming legislative session. John Waltner will give an update on law enforcement issues and county wide communication needs.
