The Bethel College men's soccer team had a one- to two-man advantage for most of the game against the Mid-America Christian University Evangels Tuesday at Joe W. Goering Field.
Despite the advantage, the Threshers struggled to finish, falling 2-0.
"It all came down to two simple goals put up," Bethel College coach Brennan Peacock said. "That was the difference in the game. We played well the last couple of games. We played a team that was better than us today, that wanted it more."
MACU had players ejected in the 34th and 69th minute of play. Total shots were even at 8-8, but the Evangels led 4-2 in shots on goal.
Abel Renteria and Tej Trivedi each had a goal for the Evangels, 3-1-1.
Mid-America scored twice off rebounded shots in the 24th and 30th minute. Mid-America Christian outshot Bethel 6-4 in the first half.
Bethel falls to 3-5, snapping a two-game losing streak. The Thresers face 1-8 York at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Goering Field.
"We'll try to get some confidence back Saturday and get ready for conference play," Peacock said.
