    rescheduled
    The Newton-Goddard boys' soccer games scheduled for Thursday at Fischer Field, but postponed because of the weather, will be made up Oct. 17.
    The Newton eighth-grade football team will host Andover at 4 p.m. Oct. 7 at Fischer Field. There will be a fifth-quarter for the B team players. The B game scheduled for Monday at Andover has been canceled.
    The Maize South-Newton eighth-grade football games will be played Oct. 17 at the NHS field.

    Hesston 55, Haven 33
    HAVEN — The Hesston High School football team put up big numbers, stopping Haven 55-33 Friday in Central Kansas League play in Haven.
    Hesston led 27-20 at the half, going on a 28-7 third quarter run to put the game away.
    Hesston's Ryan Schadler carried the ball 15 times for 322 yards and five touchdowns. Merek Barber added 106 yards on eight carries with a score. Schadler a catch for a touchdown. Justin Smith also caught a touchdown pass.
    Wyatt McKinney hit nine of 16 passes for 104 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
    Garrett Roth hit seven of eight PAT kicks.
    Hesston finished the game with 422 rushing yards and 526 yards total offense.
    Haven managed 393 yards total offense, led by Tim Hendrixson, who hit 10 of 17 passes for 210 yards and three touchdowns. Austin Fritzemeier had 16 carries for 85 yards and two scores. Jacob Newcomer caught seven passes for 132 yards and two scores. Fritzemeier added a reception for a touchdown.
    Hesston is 3-0, 2-0 in CKL South Division play. The Swathers play Friday at Hillsboro.

    Southern Cloud 54, Goessel 6
    GOESSEL — The Goessel Bluebirds fell to Southern Cloud County 54-6 Friday in Eight-Man Division II district play in Goessel.
    The game was ended in the third quarter on the 45-point rule. Southern Cloud led 32-0 at the half.
    Southern Cloud's Ryan Perkins hit six of 13 passes for 166 yards and three scores. Perkins rushed for 58 yards and two scores. Justin Pelkey rushed for 89 yards and a score. Trey Bellows caught two passes for 103 yards and a score. Pelkey and Dakota Cooper each added a receiving touchdown.
    Page 2 of 2 - Southern Cloud also scored a safety and a touchdown on a kickoff return.
    Goessel scored on an eight-yard pass from Chase Flaming to Mark Schmidt. Flaming hit seven of 11 passes for 47 yards. Miguel Guerrero rushed for 44 yards. Zach Schowalter had four catches for 31 yards.
    Southern Cloud improves to 2-1, 1-0 in district play. Goessel falls to 0-3, 0-1 in district play. Goessel plays Friday at Burrton.
