The Newton High School boys' soccer team was scheduled to play Goddard Thursday at Fischer Field.

The game was moved up an hour and a half to try and beat an approaching weather front, but alas, Mother Nature had other plans.

The two teams went through warm-ups, went through the national anthem and the pre-game introductions of the starters. Just before the whistle to start play, lightning hit in the distance and the players were sent back to the locker room.

After a delay of nearly two hours, the game was postponed. No make-up date has been set.
