    split matches
    The Bethel College volleyball team split a pair of recent home matches at Thresher Gym.
    Thursday, the Threshers downed York College in four sets. Bethel won 25-23, 25-16, 27-29, 25-18.
    Claire McStravick had 12 kills for the Threshers. Tori Pickens and Jordan Gray each added nine kills. Breetta Moe set 16 assists, followed by Sam Sheridan with 15. Moe served five aces, followed by Pickens and Sheridan with four each. Tia Goertzen had 16 digs. McStravick downed 10 blocks, five solo.
    Saturday, Bethel lost to Manhattan Christian in five sets. Bethel lost 25-23, 20-25, 19-25, 25-23, 15-11.
    McStravick had 12 kills, followed by Maggie Hans with 11. Moe set 20 assists, followed by Sheridan with 17. Moe and Pickens each served three aces. Hans and Goertzen each had 19 digs, followed by Pickens with 13. McStravick had five total blocks.
    Bethel is 8-7 and hosts Ottawa at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

    The Bethel College men's soccer team split a pair of recent games in non-conference play.
    Saturday, Bethel fell to St. Gregory's 3-0 on the road. St. Gregory's led 1-0 at the half.
    Stephen Cummins scored all three goals for St. Gregory's. Arturo Flores had two assists. Mark Dunleavy added an assist.
    Bethel was outshot 20-8. Casey Budd had five saves in goal for the Threshers.
    The Threshers returned home Monday to stop Bacone 3-0. Bethel led 1-0 at the half.
    Trevor Ford, Eric Preheim and Taylor Sigmund each scored a goal for Bethel. Joe Thompson added an assist.
    Shots were even at 11-11. Budd had seven saves in goal for the clean sheet.
    Bethel is 2-4 and plays at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Manhattan Christian.
    Thresher women
    drop two games
    The Bethel College women's soccer team lost a pair of games in a three-day span.
    Saturday, Bethel fell to St. Gregory's 2-0 on the road. Monday, Bethel lost to Bacone 2-1 at home.
    St. Gregory's led 1-1 at the half. Abi Housecroft scored a goal with an assist. Chloe Murphy added a goal.
    Bethel was outshot 23-9. Madison Wiles had eight saves in goal for the Threshers.
    In Monday's game, Bacone led 2-0 at the half. Bethel scored in the 55th minute on a goal by Ariel Williams.
    Bethel outshot Bacone 14-7. Wiles had three saves.
    Bethel is 1-5 and hosts Mid American Christian at 5 p.m. Sept. 24.
