  • Seven letterwinners back for Broncos

  • WHITEWATER — With seven letterwinners returning, experience will be the strong suit for the Remington High School volleyball team.
    Jodi Janzen returns for her 13th season as Bronco head coach. He is 297-124 at the school and 366-151 in her 15-year prep career, She is assisted by Helen Hinz.
    Remington was 23-14 last season, 6-3 in the Heart of America League for fourth. The Broncos took second in the Flinthills Tournament and third at Douglass. Remington lost in the semifinals of the Class 3A sub-state tournament.
    The Broncos will be led by senior outside hitter-setter Madison Janzen, a first-team All-HOAL pick and an all-tournament selection at the Douglass tournament as a junior, and an honorable mention All-HOAL pick as a sophomore.
    Also back is senior opposite side hitter-defensive specialist Kylee Schunn, who was named to the all-tournament team at the Douglass Invitational. Other returning letterwinners include senior opposite-side hitter Alyssa Hinz, senior middle hitter Deanna Ingalsbe, junior Kristyn Wedel, sophomore Jasmine Ingalsbe and senior Katie Nash.
    A top newcomer is freshman Kelcey Hinz.
    "Our team is building on quite a bit of experience from last season," Jodi Janzen said. "We hope to stay in the top of the HOA League even though it will be a challenge because our league is always very competitive.  We have a variety of tournaments scheduled that will help us see many teams around our area.  Our hope is to continue to develop the fundamentals in each player and use our strengths to come together as a team this season."
