  • HESSTON — The Swiss Mennonite Cultural and Historical Association (SMCHA) annual banquet will be 6 p.m. Aug. 29 at Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston.
    The speaker will be David E. Ortman from Seattle, Wash. His topic will be  “Time Travel Schweitzer Style – More Research Needed.” He will be discussing historical areas where more research could be directed, such as Mennonites' arrival in South Dakota and Kansas in 1874, Korean War and Cost, Schweitzers in Wash., Intermenno Trainee Program, etc.
    Reservations can be phoned to Barbara Stucky at (620) 345-8367 or to Whitestone Mennonite Church at (620) 327-4123 before Aug. 23. Dinner $20. Join SMCHA $15/year or $100/10 years. Dinner and program are open to SMCHA members and non-members.
