  • FOCUS group for caregivers of disabled older adults to meet

    The FOCUS (Families or Caregivers Under Stress) group will meet at 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 1, in Newton Presbyterian Manor Library, 1200 E. 7th St. in Newton. This month’s meeting will discuss “Sharing Support.”
    Sponsored by Prairie View and the Alzheimer’s Association, the FOCUS group supports caregivers of disabled older adults, primarily those with cognitive impairments resulting from Alzheimer’s disease or other dementing illnesses. Helen Brown, director of social services at the Newton Presbyterian Manor, and Wendell Wiens, retired medical doctor, are co-facilitators. Meetings are free of charge and open to newcomers at any time.
