    The Newton Rebels split a doubleheader against the Park City Rangers Friday night in Walter Johnson League play at Klein-Scott Field.
    Newton won the first game 10-6 and lost the second game 7-0. The second game was a make-up of an earlier postponement and Park City was the home team in the game.
    In the first game, Newton broke things open with a five-run third inning to lead 5-1. Newton added three runs in the fourth and put things away with two runs in the sixth inning.
    Trent Brisboe and Evan Thomas each had two hits for Newton. Brisboe drove in three runs. Justin Harris, Cooper Langley and Nick Kolley each added an RBI.
    Diamyn Hall had two hits for Park City. Hall, Jordan Hill, Tony Russell, Andrew Soliday and Justin Watts each drove in a run.
    Newton's Laken Summer pitched five innings for the win. Nathan Briar finished the game. Each had two strikeouts. Austin Brodowski took the loss for Park City, striking out two.
    In the second game, Park City pitcher Tyler Armfield went the distance, allowing six hits with two strikeouts. Connor Law took the loss for Newton, going 4 2-3 innings, striking out five.
    Each team had six hits in the second game. Park City took command early, scoring a run in the first inning and three in the second. The Rangers put things away with three runs in the fifth inning.
    Thomas had two hits for Newton. Regan Kaufman and Armfield each drove in two runs for Park City. Hill and Brian Soliday each added an RBI.
    Newton is 17-16, 16-16 in WJL play. Newton plays at 7 p.m. today at Hutchinson and plays a doubleheader against the Kansas Cannons at 6 p.m. Sunday in Andover to end WJL play.
    Newton has added non-league games against Hutchinson 7 p.m. Wednesday at home, 6 p.m. Friday at North Central, 7 p.m. Sunday at Derby and 7 p.m. July 15 at Hutchinson.
