  • Round up the family for an Old Fashioned Celebration Day and Fireworks Extravaganza from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 5, at Kidron Bethel Village, 3001 Ivy Drive in North Newton. The community is invited to Kidron Bethel’s annual event to benefit the Health Care Benevolent Fund.
    At 5:30 p.m., Allen Hahn of Hesston will lead a square dance program featuring Newton and Hesston dancers. The presentation is sponsored by Bud and Steve Auto Service of Newton.
    Kick up your heels to the bluegrass-gospel-folk music of Book of Jebb, playing two sets at the outdoor venue during Kidron Bethel’s Old Fashioned Celebration Day and Fireworks Extravaganza. Book of Jebb is Jesse Graber, Eric Schrag, Bethany Schrag and Ben Regier. Graber’s Ace Hardware of Newton and First Bank of Newton are sponsoring Book of Jebb’s performances.
    A pulled-pork BBQ meal will be served from 5:30 to 7 p.m., for a donation. Smith Home Improvements is sponsoring Balloons by Braden, and there will be a hula hoop contest and three-legged race for children. The Midland National Bank coin-grab for ages 3 to 10 is at 6:10 p.m.
    A variety of themed gift baskets created by Kidron Bethel employees will be available at a silent auction. A twin-size quilt donated by Kidron Bethel Auxiliary also will be auctioned. Erica Anderson of Creative Passions Photography is hosting a fun-photo booth. Other event sponsors include Mitchell Theatres’ Chisholm Trail 8 at the Chisholm Trail Outlet Mall.
    The highlight of the evening is the 9:30 p.m. Fireworks Extravaganza, an annual gift from Kidron Bethel’s Maintenance Department to residents, their families, staff and the community.
    Those attending should bring their own lawn chairs.
