The Newton Senior Knights struggled with offense Wednesday, dropping a pair of games to Wichita East at Klein-Scott Field.

Newton lost the first game 5-3 and the second game 9-3.

Newton was held to two hits in the first game. East scored a run in the top of the fourth inning and added four runs in the sixth. Newton scored two runs in the sixth innings and one in the seventh.

Ben Wright took the loss for Newton. Dakota Stein and Gunar Drinnen also pitched for the Senior Knights.

Stein and Tucker Sweeley had the sole hits for Newton.

In the second game, Newton led 3-2 after five innings, but gave up six runs in the sixth inning and another in the seventh. Newton had just four hits in the game. Keil Stauffer went two for four hitting.

Wyatt Burbrink took the loss in the second game. Stauffer and Drinnen also pitched.

Newton plays at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Andover Trojans.
