Bruce Springsteen
The writers of this blog are not music critics, and they don't consider a second (or third, fourth or fifth) mortgage to be a perfectly reasonable course of action to pay for front-row tickets, but despite being a whole lot more middle aged than they were when they first put \x34Born in the U.S.A.\x34 or \x34The River\x34 down on the turntable, still feels like Bruce has something -- OK, a lot of things -- to say about our country and the way we live our lives, things that not a lot of other artists are saying. And whether he's talking about the knife that can cut this pain from your heart, the house that's waiting for you to walk in or what that flag flying over the courthouse means, he's nailing down feelings that are so universal that they can raise your spirits and break your heart at the same time. Plus, let¹s face it, the man rocks.

Tine Lucas is hoping Bruce Springsteen will see her video tribute.

Tine Lucas is hoping Bruce Springsteen will see her video tribute.

We don’t often get into the business of trying to get things to “go viral” — that always seemed like an odd phrase, as if the outcome would require penicillin — but we’re going to make an exception in this case. If you’ve been following our Facebook page, you know that Tine Lucas — a Belgian student at LUCA School of Arts where she studies digital design — has been sharing Springsteen-related graphics from her final graduation project (documented on Twitter at #tineforspringsteen). Here’s how she explains it in her own words:

As we were free to chose our own subject for our graduation project, I chose to make a little animation video where I put together 16 songs of Bruce. Bruce is my hero, and I think (I know) he’s your too. In this little video I would like to show my fascination, my adoration for his music, but also for Springsteen in person.

But this video would also be my own ‘sign request’ for his concert at Nijmegen, The Netherlands, at June 22nd. I’m going together with my father and other people. My father is the reason why I started listening to Bruce in the first place. He’s a fan ever since Bruce started performing. Our request would be ‘Jungleland.’ My father saw Bruce ten times live, three times with me, but we never heard ‘Jungleland’ live together and this song is my all time favorite.

Tine unveiled the video today, and we were blown away — take a look below, and share your impressions in the comments.

Of course, Tine’s video sign request will only work if Bruce sees it, so head over to YouTube and start sharing!
