WHAT IT DOES: The Harvey County Register of Deeds office provides accurate recordings of public documents in accordance with the laws of the state of Kansas. These documents include deeds, mortgages, oil and gas leases, easements, restrictive covenants, right of ways, power of attorney, surveys and other forms. The department also files military discharges, death certificates, and federal and state tax liens. The department is responsible for preserving and maintaining all records recorded in the office.
BUDGET BREAKOUT: Some of the line items in the Harvey County Register of Deeds proposed 2014 budget include: - Personnel services: $143,063 (this figure includes wages and benefits; the department has the equivalent of 2.5 full-time staff) - Training: $2,500 - Equipment maintenance: $250 - Office supplies: $2,600 - Technology fund: $75,789 (this fund allows the department to acquire equipment and software to update the handling, archiving and retrieving of information; also includes equivalent of .5 full-time staff)
