  • WICHITA — The Newton Rebels may not win them all, but the team is off to a good start, downing the Park City Rangers 9-3 Friday to open a five-game road stand. The Rebels improve to 7-0, 6-0 in Walter Johnson League play. Down 1-0 after the first inning, Newton scored five runs in the top of the second and never looked back. Justin Harris, Anthony Quiles and Nick Kolley each went two for three hitting with three RBIs. Trent Brisboe went two for four hitting. For Park City, Tanner Seitzinger and Brandon Weber each went two for three hitting. Seitzinger, Nate Manis and Austin Cowan each drove in a run. Newton High grad Storm Marlar went 4 1-3 innings for the win, striking out two. Cameron Clements also struck out two. NHS grad Alec Stahly finished the game. Austin Brodowsky took the loss for Park City. Newton plays at 7 p.m. today against the Hutchinson Monarchs at Hobart-Detter Field.
