HILLSBORO — The Bethel College women's track team finished eighth, while the men finished ninth Monday and Tuesday at the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in Hillsboro. Friends won both the men's and women's competitions. In the women's team competition, Friends won at 184, followed by Southwestern at 167, Tabor at 134, McPherson at 127, Sterling at 59, Bethany at 50, Ottawa at 40, Bethel at 33, Saint Mary at 11 and Kansas Wesleyan at six. In the men's team competition, Friends won at 182, followed by Tabor at 149, Southwestern at 139, McPherson at 98, Saint Mary at 65, Ottawa at 59, Bethany 49, Sterling at 34, Bethel at 20 and Kansas Wesleyan at three. Bethel's Serenity Seller took third in the 800-meter run in 2:25.48. Erin Bradley took fourth in 11.38 meters (37-4). Bradley won the discus the day before. Alli Rudeen placed fourth in the javelin in 36.26 meters (119-0 1/2). Emily Gundy scored in the 5,000-meter, taking seventh in 20:02.68. Gundy placed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase the day before. Lindsey Brazil took eighth in the triple jump in 8.22 meters (26-11 3/4). Non scorers for the Bethel women include Renae Stucky, who finished ninth in the 100-meter dash in 13.48 and 11th in the 200-meter dash in 27.56. Susan Morris took ninth in the 1,500-meter run in 5:10.10 and ninth in the 5,000-meter run in 20:26.82. Michelle Kaufman placed 11th in the javelin in 28.18 meters (92-5 3/4). For the Bethel men, Cory Graber finished fourth in the triple jump in 12.78 meters (41-11 1/4). Jamison Unruh took fifth in the 200-meter dash in 23.57. Unruh took 12th in the 400-meter dash in 52.71. In the shot put, Christopher Nelson placed seventh in 12.85 meters (42-2), followed by Jake Sperry in eighth in 12.55 meters (41-2 1/4). Nelson took eighth in the discus in 35.90 meters (117-9 3/4). Non scorers include Laird Goertzen, who placed 16th in the 5,000-meter run in 17:04.27; Aaron Topham, who placed 21st in the 5,000-meter run in 18:23.22; Jared Erb, who placed 14th in the shot put in 11.21 meters (39-9 1/2) and 17th in the discus in 28.09 meters (92-2 1/4); Jeremiah Howington, who placed 15th in the shot put in 11.15 meters (36-7) and 13th in the discus in 32.26 meters (105-10 1/4); and Sperry, who placed 12th in the discus in 32.98 meters (108-2 3/4).
