Thunder wins game one of finals
ALLEN, Texas — Todd Griffith scored two goals to lift the Wichita Thunder to a 4-1 win over the Allen Americans Tuesday in the opening game of the CHL Ray Miron President's Cup Finals at the Allen Event Center. R.G. Flath and Chad Painchaud each added goals in the third period to seal the victory, Wichita's ninth straight in the playoffs. Les Reaney had two assists for the Thunder. Kevin Young and Travis Wight each added an assist. Trailing 2-0, Trevor Ludwig scored for Allen early in the third period with assists from Todd Robinson and Brian McMillin on a power play. Torrie Jung stopped 15 of 16 Allen shots in goal for Wichita. Allen's Aaron Dell had 26 saves on 30 Wichita shots. Game two of the best-of-seven series is Thursday in Allen.
