Moundridge sweeps Inman

The Moundridge High School baseball team is on a five-game winning streak after a pair of wins over Inman Friday in Inman. The games won’t count towards the Heart of America League standings. Moundridge won the first game 12-2 in six innings on the 10-run rule. Moundridge won the second game 9-5. “I thought we came out of the gate aggressive on offense,” Moundridge coach Lynn Eichelberger said of the first game. “Jaden Schmidt and Hunter Enyart had huge games at the plate for us. Daniel Ratzlaff pitched a complete game three-hitter, he gave up those two runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to lose the shutout.” Ratzlaff walked three and struck out two. Noah Tuscan took the loss for Inman. Schmidt finished three for four hitting with four RBIs. Enyart went two for three with three RBIs. Ratzlaff went two for four hitting with an RBI. Chase Stucky went two for four with two runs scored. “We once again scored runs in the first inning to get a lead for Shawn Wadley who pitched a nice game,” Eichelberger said. “He scattered four hits over six innings and is throwing the ball well. His velocity was down a little bit as he pitched a complete game on Monday. Garrett Higgins is seeing the ball well going four for four, and Jaden Schmidt continued his hot streak at the plate going three for four. Wadley also helped his cause with a couple of hits.” Wadley struck out eight in the second game. Schmidt struck out two. Higgins drove in three runs. Enyart added two RBIs. Chase Stucky, Ratzlaff, Schmidt and Wadley each drove in a run. Treyton DeVore was charged with the loss for the Teutons, striking out five in three innings. Blake Druker finished the game, striking out two. Layne Richart went two for four with two RBIs. Taylor Almquist also drove in two runs. Moundridge is 5-5 and plays Tuesday at Canton-Galva. “I am proud of our team for competing and playing well this week with one practice,” Eichelberger said. “Who needs practice right?”
