    The Newton middle schools track meet scheduled for Thursday at Maize South will be made up Wednesday.
    Bethel football schedule set
    WICHITA — The Bethel College football schedule for the 2013 season has been released by the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Threshers open the season with back-to-back home games in non-conference play. Bethel opens Aug. 31 at Thresher Stadium against Haskell Indian Nations University, which went 1-8 last season. Sept. 14, Bethel hosts Central Methodist as a part of the KCAC-HAAC Challenge Series. Central Methodist was 0-10 last year, forfeiting two wins. Bethel was orginally slated to play Avila in the challenge series, but the forfeits marked a change in the standings. Each conference has 10 members. The match-ups were determined by conference standings.     Wild claims road win
    BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — The Wichita Wild rebounded from its first loss of the season, stopping the Bloomington Edge 49-35 Friday night in Champions Professional Indoor Football League play at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington. After a scoreless first quarter, Wichita led 23-9 at the half, holding off a Bloomington comeback in the second half. Wichita quarterback Rocky Hinds hit 13 of 23 passes with four touchdowns and three interceptions for 123 yards. Tim Simmons and Joe Kassanavoid each had two touchdown catches. Simmons had seven catches for 54 yards. Kassanavoid had four catches for 61 yards. Tywon Hubbard had 19 carries for 52 yards and a touchdown. Hubbard returned six kickoffs for 198 yards and a touchdown. Dan Kontz and Bethel grad James McCartney each scored a safety for the defense. Kontz finished with nine total tackles. McCartney had two total tackles, both for losses. Kontz, Kenrick Harper and Chris Hemphill each had an interception. Alex Fambrough hit field goals of 40 and 18 yards. Fambrough hit three of five PAT kicks. For Bloomington, quarterback David Knighton hit 14 of 23 passes for 139 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. Jasonus Tillery caught four passes for 57 yards and two touchdowns. Marcus Lewis caught four passes for 43 yards and a touchdown. Andre Raymond and Knighton each addded a touchdown run. Peter Christifal hit one of three field goal attempts, hitting from 46 yards. Christifal hit two of four PAT kicks. Bloomington falls to 2-3 with two losses to Wichita. The Wild improve to 5-1. Wichita hosts the 3-0 Omaha Beef at 7:05 p.m. April 20 at Hartman Arena.
    Spring game televised
    WICHITA — The University of Kansas spring football game will be televised on Kansas 22 on Cox Cable systems throughout the state. The broadcast begins at 1 p.m. A replay will be at 7 p.m. Monday.
