Will be married to my wife Linda for 50 years on April 27, 2013, retired U.S. Naval Reservist with 22 years of service to my country, and have worked for the same company for 50 years. I am the current vice chairman for the Newton, North Newton Planning Commission, I am a deacon in my church, and I am also a member of Newton Post 2 of the American Legion. I also have a degree in Business Management.

Reasons for running for office:

The city of Newton has been good to my wife and I, and this is one way to repay the city for this. I also believe that the city needs to be more responsive to the citizens, and this is one of the things that I will try to improve on. We also need to communicate to those who are outside the many things that this city has to offer, to not only the younger workers but also to those who are older workers and to those who are ready to retire. This is also something that I will endeavor to make happen. We need to attract more and newer types of businesses to Newton to help in the effort to grow and improve this city for all of its citizens.

What are the issues you think are most important to address:

This city is divided on many issues, and we who are leaders in this community need to correct this problem and reinstall trust and confidence in the City Commission and those who are in responsible roles in leading city government. I am all about an ethical, fiscally responsible government, and this is what I am striving for here in Newton.

Why are you the best candidate for the job:

My years in the corporate world with my vast military experience and my years of experience with working with people are just some of the things I bring to the table. My current position on the Planning Commission will be of great help in making decisions for the good of the community.

What should the community of Newton look like in 20 years:

I see a city of 25,000 to 35,000 citizens with great parks and playgrounds with a thriving retail and business community. Those are just a few things we can look forward to in the future.
