  • Background:

I am a current Newton City Commissioner, elected in 2011, and I am the owner of Davis Pest Control, established in 1990. I have been a Newton resident for 46 years. My wife Becky and I have one son, Ben Davis (wife, Cassandra), and four grandchildren.

    Reasons for running?for office:

I want to be fiscally responsible for taxpayer dollars and would like to see more transparency in city government. I want to continue to give the average citizen of Newton a voice.

What are the issues you think are most important to address:

n Renovation of the Newton Recreation Buildingn Keeping a lid on taxesn Updating Newton’s infrastructure, facilities, etc.n Finding the proper location for the homeless shelter

Why are you the best candidate for the job:

I have a proven track record the past two years as a Newton commissioner working for all citizens of Newton and saving the taxpayer dollars. I listen, I’m approachable. I have and will work hard to get you answers to your questions. I will continue to work hard to represent you as a Newton City Commissioner, researching all issues that impact our community to make the best decision possible. I would appreciate your vote on April 2.

What should the community of Newton look like 10 years in the future:

In 10 years, I would like to see Newton as a city with a hometown atmosphere and our traditions intact, as well as new and established businesses prospering, and a small town families want to move to.
