  • United Way announces 2013 officers, partner organizations

  • Attendees at the Harvey County United Way Annual Meeting on Jan. 24, 2013, elected board members and officers for the 2013 year.Officers are: Rick Golubski, chair; Chad Frey, first vice chair; Carol Wright, second vice chair; Lunda Asmani, treasurer; and Samantha Roberts, secretary. Chairs of standing committees include: Kim Manring, campaign, and Timothy Johnson, community investment. Susan Bradrick serves as immediate past chair. Other members of the board include: Kim Fiessinger, Fred Goering, Deborah Kingsley, Mel McAnulty, Samantha Raybern and David Stucky. Board members serve two-year terms.In addition, Harvey County United Way extended partner organization offers to the following non-profit organizations: Big Brothers/Big Sisters, CASA: A Voice for Children, Central Kansas American Red Cross, Circles of Hope, Community Playschool, Harvey County Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Task Force, Harvey County Special Education COOP Infant Toddler Program, Health Ministries Clinic, Heart to Heart Child Advocacy Center, Hesston Area Senior Center, Hesston Community Child Care, Mirror Inc., Newton Area Senior Center, Newton Community Childcare Center, Newton Meals on Wheels, Offender/Victims Ministries, RSVP of Harvey County, Salvation Army, St. Matthew’s Representative Payee Program, Sunshine Academy Learning Center, Trinity Heights Respite Care, USD 373 Latchkey, United Cerebral Palsy, and Wichita Children’s Home.Partner organizations are selected following a rigorous review process conducted by the community investment committee. The committee, led by Tim Johnson and Susan Bradrick, was comprised of individuals representing a broad variety of ages, interests and communities. Committee members reviewed grant applications and supporting financial documents, conducted hearings with agency leaders and toured facilities. Funding recommendations were made by the committee; final funding decisions were made by the board of directors.Established in 1955, Harvey County United Way is a local grassroots organization, not a chapter of any state or national organization. The mission of Harvey County United Way is to mobilize communities to create lasting changes in community conditions that improve lives. Focus areas are education, income and health.
