Jamie Waters, St. John-Hudson's version of the Energizer Bunny keeps on raking in the basketball accolades from around Central Kansas as she scored 13 points (nine of them from three, 3-pointers) for the National Team at the second annual Central Kansas All-Star Classic held at Barton County Community College last Sunday afternoon.
Waters, along with Pratt's Payton Hoeme and Garden Plain's Alli Heimerma, both playing for the American team were chosen "Most Valuable Players" of the game.
St. John's Morgan Osborne, who earlier in the season was "Most Valuable Player" at Pratt's Tournament of Champions, scored four points, making a 3-pointer and a free throw.
The Americans won the game 85-75.
Along with Osborne, Waters and Alexis Witt made the Tournament of Champions All-Tournament team.
Waters was also the "Most Valuable Player" at Larned's Keady Basketball Classic, while she, Osborne and Terresa Christie made the All-Tournament team.
Waters was the only CPL player to receive a unanimous vote and made the All-CPL first team along with Osborne. Christie made the second team and Witt the third team.
Waters and Osborne were very important elements in St. John's success these last four years, propelling the Lady Tigers on to the State finals several times. They will sorely be missed by their school, teammates and fans when they graduate this spring.
Coming later in early April, Waters and Osborne along with several of their teammates could be adding a few more honors to their basketball careers as the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association votes on the 1A (Div. I) All-State selection list.
The results will be listed on this blog as soon as they come in.
