Kevin L. Hoffer, 61, passed away March 24, 2013, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.
He was born June 27, 1951, in Newton, the son of Leonard and Lois (Adams) Hoffer. After high school graduation, he proudly served his country with the United States Navy, serving on the USS Francis Hammond, during the Vietnam Conflict.
He was a licensed electrician, working more than 30 years through the IBEW #271 Union of Wichita; he later worked for Hostess of Emporia, until its close.
On Jan. 1, 1976, he was united in marriage to Vicki Helfer, and they were blessed with a daughter, Shannon. In the mid 80ís, they would make their home at the Marion County Lake. Kevin was a member and current Commander of the American Legion Post #22; very active in the Patriot Guard; and had worked as the football announcer for 15 years with WTVN. His family, friends and all veterans were very important to him.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Vicki Hoffer of Marion; his daughter, Shannon Hoffer of New Haven, Connecticut; and brothers, Bruce Hoffer and wife Carol of Newton, and Gary Hoffer and wife Katherine of Alameda, California.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 5 to 6:30 p.m., on Thursday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion. Interment with military rites will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
Memorial funds have been established for the American Legion Post #22, the Marion High School Football Program, or the Marion County Lake Improvement Fund, in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion, KS 66861.
