John L. Teater, 75, of Newton, retired semi truck driver, passed away at his home on Friday, March 22, 2013.
John was born Aug. 17, 1937, in Corydon, Iowa, to Cecil and Pearl Teater, who preceded him in death.
John grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, and had an adventurous childhood, according to him. He then enlisted in the Air Force and later said that if he had realized how much fun he was having, he would have stayed in.
He then became a semi truck driver, and his path was set. He traveled coast to coast and border to border for almost 50 years. He would have continued to drive until the day God called him if he could have.
No matter how much time he spent away from home, he was always involved with his family. He was there for their every need and loved them dearly. He will be truly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Sheryal; daughter, Julie and her husband Dave Brillenz; daughter, Corie and her husband Brian Snaer; daughter, Willo and her husband John Bassett; son, Troy and his wife Casey Teater; son, Coy and his wife Nellie Schwager; and 13 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Grace Community Church, located at 1600 S. Anderson in Newton at 10:30 a.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Harden Hospice Kansas, 301 N. Main, Suite 107, Newton, KS 67114.
