Wednesday's episode of Survivor: Caramoan - Fans vs. Favorites picked up right where the previous week's had left off - with the Fans returning from Tribal Council having just sent Allie home. Not exactly one big happy family, this bunch. The episode opened with Shamar "going nuts," in the words of Laura, because he narrowly escaped elimination at Tribal Council. After Sherri tried to convince him to tone it down, Shamar refused and said he was contemplating quitting the game. "I don't want to be the angry black man on Survivor," he said. Um ... too late?
Meanwhile, over with the Favorites, Malcolm and Corrine were being mildly flirtatious with each other on a quest to find the hidden immunity idol, which they did. Upon noticing their closeness, Andrea went around to the other tribe members trying to convince them to vote out Corinne. She succeeded with everyone including Brandon - who agreed to go along with the plan but threatened to "pee in the rice" and "burn the shelter down" if he was betrayed and voted off the island.
Has Survivor overstayed its welcome?
But he didn't have anything to worry about. The Favorites once again won the immunity challenge, winning not only an exemption from Tribal Council but also a "comfort" reward, consisting of chairs, pillows, blankets and tarps. After the Fans' loss, Shamar blamed everyone but himself, while Laura started to worry about her security because it was her poor swimming that set the team behind from the outset.
Still trying to disband the group of four (now three after Allie's elimination last week), the other Favorites hatched a plan to split the vote between Hope and Eddie and then eliminate Hope in the re-vote. But Shamar ended up telling Hope the plan and encouraging her to vote for Eddie to save herself, causing the rest of the group to rethink their strategy and (rightly) write Shamar off as a "complete wild card."
"Hopefully we can send Shamar packing tonight," Reynold said. "It would be like Christmas."
TV characters we want to get rid of
Unfortunately for Reynold, it wasn't meant to be. Whether by miscommunication or intentional sabotage, both plans backfired and resulted in a three-way tie - three votes each for Eddie, Hope and Shamar. When the other six tribe members re-voted, it was Hope who was sent home.
What did you think? Are you surprised Shamar survived to see another week?
