    TOPEKA — Because of weather conditions across the state, the start of Friday’s KSHSAA state wrestling championships have been delayed at all sites.?Weigh in will begin at 9 a.m. The first round of competition will begin at noon.

    Spring sports?meeting canceled

    The USD 373 spring sports parent’s meeting scheduled for today has been canceled because of the weather.?No make-up date has been set.

    MS wrestling?meet canceled

    The Newton middle schools double dual wrestling meet scheduled for today has been canceled because of the weather.?No make-up date has been set.

    Burrton senior?named to team

    WAMEGO — Burrton High School senior Trae Lane was named to the West boys’ team for the Shrine Bowl All-Star Cross Country Race.?The race starts at 6:30 p.m. July 27, ending at Yager Stadium in Topeka. The finish is part of the televised pre-game show of the 2013 Shrine Bowl.?Lane finished sixth in the Class 1A state cross country race last fall.?Athletes are selected by Kansas high school cross country coaches. They will participate in the Shrine Hospital Patient Visitation Day July 25 on the Washburn University campus.?More information is available at www.kansasshrinebowl.com.

    Newton grad?places at meet

    LAWRENCE — Newton High School grad Tyler Rambo, a sophomore at Hutchinson Community College, placed second in the shot put in the Jayhawk Conference West at the Jayhawk Conference and NJCAA Region VI Indoor Track and Field Championships Friday at the Anschutz Pavillion in Lawrence.?Rambo had a best mark of 51-8 1/2. He placed fourth in the Region VI competition.?Hutchinson won the Jayhawk Conference West title and finished third in the Region VI team competition.
