  • Bethel College Athletic Director Kent Allshouse announced the hiring of John Marble to lead the volleyball program. He replaces Chad Schilling, who resigned at the end of the 2012 season. “Having reviewed a host of resumes and conducted two on-campus interviews,” Allshouse said, “there was no doubt that John is a fantastic choice for the current needs of our volleyball program. “His experience in recruiting and building a startup program at the college level will be valuable assets here at Bethel.” “I am honored to become part of the Thresher team and eager to begin building on the Bethel volleyball tradition of competing for KCAC titles,” Marble said. “Thanks to President White and AD Allshouse for this opportunity.” Marble comes to Bethel from Dawson Community College, Glendive, Mont., where he was head volleyball coach as well as a faculty member, teaching courses in engineering, engineering technology, math, physics and physical education. Marble has a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering, with a minor in history, from the University of Idaho. He earned a master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University in Irvine, Calif. Relying on the experience acquired by coaching from middle school to college, Marble started the volleyball program at Dawson Community College in 2008. In his five years at Dawson, Marble’s team has become competitive in the extremely tough Mon-Dak Conference. “My visit to campus confirmed that this was the right place for my family,” Marble said. “We are excited to become part of the community.” In addition to his coaching and teaching responsibilities, Marble has been an active volunteer at the Dawson County food bank and the community soup kitchen.
