MANHATTAN — The Bethel College women’s track team placed in four events at the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference indoor track meet Friday and Saturday at Ahearn Field House in Manhattan. The Threshers tied for 17th in the team standings with 18 points. Southwestern won at 161 points, followed by Friends at 141, Tabor at 105, McPherson at 88, Ottawa at 25, Sterling at 19, Bethel and Bethany at 18, Kansas Wesleyan at nine and Saint Mary at four. Susan Morris took third in the 1,000-meter run in 3:17.36 and the mile run in 5:29.54. Erin Bradley took fourth in the shot put in 10.62 meters (34-10 3/4). Serenity Seiler took fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:32.34. Also competing for the Threshers were Emily Gundy, who placed eighth in the mile in 5:59.06 and 12th in the 3,000-meter run in 11:59.77; and Renae Stucky, who placed 15th in the 60-meter dash in 8.55 second and 20th in the 200-meter dash in 29.96. For the Bethel men, Jamison Unurh took 12th in the 200-meter dash in 24.00 and ninth in the 600-meter run in 1:29.52. Laird Goerzen placed 22nd in the 3,000-meter run in 9:53.18. In the men’s shot put, Jake Sperry was 21st at 10.77 meters (35-4), followed by Jared Erb in 23rd at 10.39 meters (34-1 1/4) and Jeremiah Howington in 24th at 10.34 meters (33-11 1/4). Southwestern won the men’s competition at 138, followed by Tabor at 117, Friends at 106, McPherson at 84, Bethany at 54, Ottawa at 36, Sterling at 27, Saint Mary at 22 and Kansas Wesleyan at four. Bethel failed to score. The meet ends the indoor season for the Threshers. Bethel opens the outdoor season March 14 at Southwestern. Other area competitors include Goessel grad Aspen Frey, a junior at McPherson College, who won the 5,000-meter run in 19:14.83 and placed 11th in the 3,000-meter run in 11:52.80; Hesston High grad Yvonne Brubacher, a junior at Tabor, who placed fourth in the pole vault at 3.13 meters (10-3 1/4); and Remington grad Lacey McFadden, a senior at Friends, who placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.79 and seventh in the 400-meter run in 1:03.70. McFadden also ran on the 4x400-meter relay team, which placed second in 4:18.12.
