LINCOLN, Neb. — Trailing 2-1 after doubles play, the Bethel College men’s tennis team stormed back for a 6-3 dual meet win over Nebraska Wesleyan Saturday in Lincoln. “This was a great way for our men to start the year after a very difficult season a year ago,” Bethel coach Lonnie Isaac said. “Nebraska Wesleyan is probably one of the top three teams in the GPAC conference, so this should hopefully be a big boost of confidence for our team. The match was played indoors on a very quick surface but once we adjusted to it we played some pretty strong tennis for this early in the year. We were down 0-2 when Logan (Palenske) and David (Tedone) were able to pull out their doubles match. That point really gave us a shot in the arm heading into singles and the guys responded. David and Jesse (Voth-Gaeddert) were able to get us some quick singles wins and put us up 3-2. At that point both Clinton (Chlumsky) and Logan were involved in some really tight matches, and both of them were able to get through some difficult moments and win their third set tie-breakers. I was really proud of how the guys responded on a tough surface and in a tough environment.” Bethel returns to action Feb. 20 at Southwestern Christian University in Oklahoma City.
