Newton High School senior Kelsi Langley signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Butler Community College beginning this fall. Langley is a three-year starter for the Railers. She led Newton to a 11-39-2 record in three seasons with nine shutouts. Langley was a first-team All-Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division I selection as a junior. She was a second-team All-Southwest Region selection as a junior. She was honorable mention All-AV-CTL I as a sophomore. She was an honorable mention All-AV-CTL Division II selection as a freshman. Langley also starts at guard for the Newton basketball team, which qualified for state last year. Butler was 22-3 last season, 13-0 in both NJCAA Region VI and Jayhawk Conference play. Butler downed Hutchinson 2-1 in the Region VI playoff finals. In the NJCAA Division I national tournament, Butler downed St. Louis (Mo.) Community College 2-1 and lost to Tyler (Texas) College 2-1. The Grizzlies were ranked fourth in the final NJCAA Division I poll. Butler is coached by Adam Hunter.
