    HALSTEAD — The Halstead High School girls’ basketball team fell to Sterling 63-44 Tuesday in Central Kansas League play in Halstead. The Dragons trailed 28-20 at the half. Halstead was outscored 22-11 in the fourth quarter. Sterling, 14-2 and ranked ninth in the Class 2A coaches poll, was le by Dani Dowell with 22 points. Andi Dowell and Chelsey Riffel each added 12 points. Halstead, 6-10, was led by Sydney Beat with 14 points. Halstead hosts Nickerson Friday.

Cami Richardson scored 11 points to lead Hesston. Caylee Richardson, Ashley Weaver, Hannah Schmitt and Kelsey Unruh each added nine points. For Nickerson, 1-15 overall and 1-4 in CKL play, Paige Stewart and Oakley Meadows each scored five points. Hesston is 14-2 overall and 4-1 in CKL play. Remington led 19-16 at the half and 33-29 after three quarters. Kylee Schunn scored 15 points for Remington, which won its fifth straight. Stacia Thunberg added 12 points.
